History Statement of Intent

It is our intent that History should excite, engage and challenge all learners. We aim to equip learners from our Nursery to Year 6 with the broad knowledge and skills needed to answer challenging questions and understand key historical events so they can identify how actions have shaped the world we live in today. We want History to inspire pupils to learn about the ever-changing world around them and develop skills for lifelong learning.

Supporting Pupils with SEND

To make history lessons inclusive, teachers need to anticipate what barriers to taking part and learning particular activities, lessons or a series of lessons may pose for pupils with particular SEND and/or disabilities. Teachers plan to reduce these barriers so that all pupils can fully take part in learning. Lessons in history are sequenced through the use of enquiry questions, challenges and support are differentiated so that all pupils acquire key knowledge when learning about history.

"We practise our writing skills, our research skills and build our knowledge".

"I loved learning about crime and punishment!".
